Richfield Transfer Station

1345 Hillside Rd, Hubertus, WI 53033

(262) 628-0700

Small county transfer station in Hubertus where local residents drop off household rubbish and recyclables before it’s compacted and trucked out. People from nearby towns use it when hauling a load that’s easier to leave here than to drive to a distant landfill. Winters can change how things look and operate, so expect some differences in cold months.

Drive up to a single entrance with a small attendant booth and a scale nearby; vehicles usually pull up to be weighed and directed to the proper receiving area. The site is mostly concrete and metal bays with piles or compactors set back from the driveway, and recycling containers often sit off to one side. Lines form on weekends and during spring cleanup, so there can be a wait; trucks and compactors make the place feel industrial, not like a tidy drop-off. Expect to stop, unload, and then stop again to be weighed out if the facility charges by weight.

Before You Go

  • Load things so they can be handed down or slid out easily - loose items and small parts slow unloading and hold up the line.
  • Bring tarps or straps for larger items; it makes securing stuff in the bed or trailer much quicker at the scale and drop-off.
  • Avoid peak times when possible: weekend mornings and spring cleanup weekends are the busiest and backups are common.
