Transfer Station

Republic Services of Wisconsin Transfer Station

16119 Nursery Rd, Hayward, WI 54843

(715) 234-7744

A small Republic Services transfer station just off Nursery Road in Hayward, used by locals who want to drop off household rubbish without driving to a distant landfill. Neighbors, contractors with small hauls, and anyone clearing out a garage tend to use it. It's a working site where loads are compacted and then trucked out to a landfill elsewhere.

Drive up to a single entrance with a little booth or office near the driveway; there's usually a scale area you cross so trucks can be weighed. Pull up where directed, dump or unload in the open tipping area, and then you'll likely be routed back past the scale before you leave. The site is mostly gravel and pavement with piles or containers and large equipment moving around, so slow down and follow signs. During winter months things can look different and procedures or access points may change, especially on snowy days.

Before You Go

  • Secure loose material with a tarp and tie-downs - wind can scatter stuff quickly on the drive in or out.
  • Bring items already separated if possible (trash vs. recyclables), since it makes the stop faster and keeps traffic moving.
  • Expect lines on weekends and during spring cleanup; plan for extra time and drive cautiously around loaders and trucks.
