Presque Isle Transfer Station

Small county transfer station used by Presque Isle residents for dropping off household refuse and recyclables. The site compacts loads and hauls them out to a landfill, so it's more convenient than driving to a distant dump for many locals.

A simple, working site with an entrance booth and a scale where vehicles stop for weighing; charging is commonly done by weight at transfer stations. Vehicles pull up to the drop-off area where compactors or containers are visible and larger trucks come and go. Recycling bins or collection areas are typically grouped near the entrance or just past the booth, and weekends-especially during spring cleanup-can get backed up. In winter the operation often adjusts procedures and hours, and the lot can be snow-covered or icy.
