Highway G Sanitary Landfill

Highway G Sanitary Landfill, 7001 CR G, Eagle River, 54521, Winsconsin

Highway G Sanitary Landfill is the county landfill just outside Eagle River where residents and commercial haulers bring trash that gets buried. It handles larger or non-recyclable loads that won’t go to curbside pickup. Locals use it for cleanups, projects, and anything that needs a final disposal spot rather than recycling.

Drive up to a small scale house/booth first - trucks are usually checked and loads weighed so there’s a short stop before you head into the tipping area. The site is big and open, with dirt roads, piles of compacted material and machinery working the cells; expect to be routed to a specific spot to dump. You’ll cross the scale again to record the outbound weight and the facility charges tipping fees based on that weight or load. Lines form on weekends and during spring cleanup, so give yourself extra time.

Before You Go

  • Secure and tarp loads; loose debris falling onto the road is a common nuisance and slows everyone down.
  • Leave room for backing and turning - large trailers need extra space and may be directed to a separate drop point for bulky items.
  • Be ready to stop at the scale house for weighing and fee calculation, and allow extra time on busy days like weekends and spring cleanup.
