Raleigh County Landfill

200 Fernadez Dr, Beckley, WV 25801

(304) 255-9196

Raleigh County Landfill is the local burial site for household and commercial trash in Beckley, used by residents and haulers from surrounding hollows and towns. Trucks and small trailers both show up here; the place handles the final dumping and covering of refuse on a fairly large site. Expect it to draw regular traffic from contractors as well as folks doing a big home cleanup.

There’s a scale and an entrance booth where vehicles stop before getting waved into the tipping area, and loads are typically weighed so the charge is based on weight. Drive up, get directed to a spot to unload, then pull back over the scale for an outbound weight if required. The working area is open and dusty in dry weather and can be muddy or slick after rain; the landfill itself looks like layers of compacted refuse with heavy equipment moving around. Recycling or drop-off bins, if present, are usually off to one side rather than in the main tipping lane.

Before You Go

  • Secure your load with a tarp; loose debris will make unloading slower and can be a safety issue on the drive in.
  • Plan for delays on weekends and during spring cleanup - expect a line if multiple trucks are waiting to get on the scale.
  • Know that commercial haulers use the site regularly, so be prepared to share space with bigger trucks and follow any flagger or equipment operator directions.
