Brooke County Landfill (Subtitle D) on Petrillo Road in Colliers is the county's large landfill where both household and commercial loads end up. Locals and haulers use it when trash needs to be buried rather than recycled or hauled elsewhere. The Subtitle D designation means it's set up for municipal solid waste at a larger scale than a neighborhood drop-off.
There’s a small entrance booth and a scale-expect to drive over it and to be weighed, so allow extra time. Pull up slowly when directed, then follow the signs or attendants down to the tipping area; big trucks and smaller pickups share the same lane. The site looks like big lined cells and capped dirt mounds, with earthmoving equipment working the face; it’s not scenic and can be dusty on dry days. Plan on stopping at the scale again on the way out since tipping fees are generally weight-based and billed that way.
