Waste Management - JMK Fibers Recycling Center

1440 Port of Tacoma Rd, Tacoma, WA 98421

(253) 272-6208

A local recycling center on Port of Tacoma Road that handles typical residential and small commercial drop-offs. Neighbors and small businesses use it to keep cardboard, paper, glass, metal and common plastics out of the landfill.

The site looks industrial - fenced lots with big piles or roll-off containers and a scale/entrance lane area common to centers in the port. Expect to pull into a short line, then move to a drop-off lane for different materials; signs will point to where cardboard, mixed recyclables and bulky items go. Many Washington centers ask that yard debris and recyclables be separated before getting to the gate, so have materials sorted. Vehicles usually stop at a booth or weigh station, then proceed to the appropriate bin or tipping area.

Before You Go

  • Sort materials at home into cardboard, mixed recyclables, metals and yard debris so unloading is faster and less chaotic.
  • Bring sturdy gloves and a tarp for loose items; the ground is gravel or pavement and things can be dusty or muddy.
  • Avoid weekend mornings if possible - spring and fall cleanup times get noticeably busier and lines can form.
