Solid Waste Facility

Pend Oreille County Solid Waste

1712 Sullivan Lake Rd, Ione, WA 99139

(509) 442-3051

Small county solid waste site used by Ione residents and folks from surrounding areas hauling household trash, recyclables and yard clippings. It feels like the kind of place locals stop at when cleaning out a garage or cutting back the trees along the driveway.

Drive up to a manned entrance booth and be prepared to stop so your load can be noted and you can be directed. There’s a scale you’ll cross in and out, so expect to pull forward, drop material where directed, then back over the scale on the way out. The layout is an open gravel yard with piles, bins and drop-off points; recycling containers are usually grouped off to one side and yard waste has its own area. Weekends, especially spring cleanup time, tend to be busier and create lines.

Before You Go

  • Sort recyclables and yard waste at home into separate piles so unloading goes faster.
  • Secure loose material before heading over; tarps and tie‑downs keep things from blowing off while driving and make dumping tidier.
  • If hauling heavy or awkward items, have help ready to unload and arrange the load for easy access to the items that will be dropped first.
