Lewis County Transfer Station

1411 S Tower Ave, Centralia, WA 98531

(360) 740-1481

A county transfer station in Hohenwald where local household and small-haul loads get dropped off to be compacted and sent on to a landfill. People from around Lewis County use it when the landfill is too far to bother with or when they have a pickup-load’s worth of stuff.

There’s an entrance lane with a small booth and a place to pull up and wait your turn; traffic is direct and practical rather than landscaped. A scale and compacting area are usually on site, with large roll-off bays or a pit where trucks empty into a compactor. Recycling bins and a separate drop area are likely set off to one side, while loose trash and larger items go to the main tipping area. Lines build up on weekend mornings and during seasonal cleanups, so plan for a short wait at busier times.

Before You Go

  • Sort materials before getting to the gate - having recyclables separated speeds the unload and keeps the line moving.
  • Arrive midweek or early in the morning to avoid the heavier weekend backups, especially during spring cleanup.
  • Secure loose items and tarp loads for the drive in; loose debris can make unloading slower and messier.
