(757) 356-1040Wrenn’s Mill Refuse and Recycling Center at 8196 Old Stage Hwy in Smithfield is the local place for household recycling and small drop-offs. Locals use it for common recyclables like paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metal, and the site may also host special collection events for things like electronics or appliances.
Pull into the driveway and be prepared to stop at an entrance booth and a scale; many centers charge by weight so expect to pass the scale again on the way out. The yard is open with large containers grouped by material-cardboard often has its own pile while bins for glass, plastics and metal sit nearby. Passenger cars and small trailers can pull up right next to the containers to unload, and there’s a separate lane for larger drop-offs. Weekends, especially during spring cleanup, can get backed up so plan for a wait.
