(804) 253-8006Waste Management - Charles City Landfill is the county's large burial site for municipal and commercial trash, located out on Chambers Road in Charles City. Neighbors, landscapers, and haulers all end up here when regular pickup won’t do; it’s exactly what it sounds like - a working landfill with big piles and heavy equipment.
Drive in past an entrance booth and be prepared to stop at a scale; landfill charges are typically based on weight and vehicle type, so expect a weigh-in and then another stop on the way out. The yard is open, dusty, and dominated by compactors, roll-off containers, and bermed cells; pull up to the tipping area the attendants direct drivers toward. Commercial trucks are commonly accepted at facilities of this scale, and loads are routed by size and content before being deposited. Lines form most on weekends and during seasonal cleanups, so there can be a wait during busy times.
