(540) 982-5710Republic Services Roanoke Transfer Station is the local place where household and commercial trash gets dropped off, compacted, and loaded onto bigger trucks for hauling out of town. People who don't want to drive to a distant landfill-or who have a pickup load to get rid of-use this spot regularly.
There’s a guarded entrance with a small booth and lanes to pull into; staff usually direct vehicles where to go. Expect to drive up onto a scale so the load can be recorded, and then to be directed to a tip area or bay where material is emptied into large containers or pits. The site is industrial-big trucks, compactors, and concrete bays-so there’s noise, diesel smell, and heavy equipment moving around. Lines form on weekends and during spring cleanup, so some waiting is common.
