(434) 589-5198Republic Services Fluvanna Transfer Station in Troy is a local transfer station where household and commercial loads are compacted and loaded into larger trucks to be taken to a landfill. Neighbors drop off smaller loads here instead of driving all the way to a distant landfill, so it's used by residents and local haulers alike.
Expect an industrial-looking site with heavy trucks and large tipping bays or compactors; there will be a driveway and an entrance booth or scale area where vehicles stop first. Pull up to the booth/scale, get weighed if required, then follow signs or attendants toward the unload area and back out to the exit scale on the way out. The work area is noisy and dusty at times, with big roll-up doors or open bays and handlers moving material into transfer trailers. Weekends and spring cleanup times tend to be the busiest, so lines can form at the entrance.
