Region 2000 Regional Landfill

Region 2000 Regional Landfill - Livestock Road Facility, 361 Livestock Road, Rustburg, 24588, Virginia

Region 2000 Regional Landfill in Rustburg is the big regional dump where both household pickups and contractor trucks go to bury trash. It handles large volumes, so expect industrial-scale operations rather than a small transfer station. Visitors will notice scales, heavy equipment, and the usual gravel roads leading into the site.

There’s a weigh scale and an entry booth where vehicles are directed to pull up and get weighed; tipping fees are based on weight, so stopping twice - in and out - is normal. The site is expansive with large dirt or gravel areas, dozers or loaders moving material, and piles of cover soil or compacted refuse visible from the entrance. Traffic can back up at busy times, especially weekends and spring cleanups, so lines are common. Follow the site traffic flow and take care when maneuvering around larger trucks and equipment.

Before You Go

  • Leave room behind your vehicle when pulling in; long trucks need space to turn and queues form quickly.
  • Secure loads but make them accessible for quick unloading - loose tarps or tied-down brush that’s easy to get out will save a lot of time.
  • Wear sturdy shoes and expect dirt and dust; the ground is often gravel or mud depending on recent weather.
