Small county transfer station used by Ringgold and nearby residents to drop off household loads that get compacted and hauled to a landfill. Locals swing by with junk, yard debris or cleanup piles when driving straight to a landfill would be too far. The site is practical rather than pretty - built for getting loads off the road and on to larger trucks.
There’s usually an entrance booth and a traffic lane to pull into before backing up to the tipping face. Vehicles stop on a scale at some point so loads are weighed and recorded, then the load is tipped into a compactor or pit where big trucks empty it later. The yard is mostly gravel and concrete with heavier truck traffic; expect to share space with commercial trucks as well as cars and trailers. Weekends and spring cleanup times tend to be the busiest, so lines and slow moving traffic are common then.
