Frederick County Regional Landfill on Landfill Road in Winchester is where neighborhoods, contractors, and haulers drop the stuff that gets buried. Big enough to handle commercial trucks as well as pickup loads, it’s the county’s main landfill for the area.
There’s an entrance booth and a scale-vehicles usually stop to be weighed, so plan for a brief wait and another stop when leaving. After the scale, drivers are directed to the active tipping area where the ground is bare and large piles of cover dirt and compacted material are visible. The site looks industrial: heavy equipment, mounded cells, and open tipping faces; recycling or bulk drop-off locations are typically separate from the main dump area. Weekend mornings and spring cleanup times often have lineups, so expect traffic if arriving then.
