(434) 846-3324A county-run solid waste site serving residents of Amherst County and nearby areas. Local homeowners and small haulers bring household trash, recycling and yard debris here; it’s the kind of place people visit when doing a big cleanout or yard work.
Drive up the gravel entrance and pull into a small booth area where staff direct traffic and may check vehicle type. There’s a drive-over scale and traffic flow that requires stopping twice - once coming in and usually once again on the way out. Recycling and yard waste drop-offs are set off to the side of the main tipping area, with piles and containers visible from the drive lanes. Expect a functional, no-frills site: roll-off containers, work vehicles moving about, and larger trucks coming through alongside regular cars and pickups.
