Transfer Station

Waste Management - Salt Lake Commercial Transfer Station

3405 W 900 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84104

(801) 250-0555

A mid-size commercial transfer station on the west side of Salt Lake City that mostly handles compacting loads for transport to a landfill elsewhere. Locals and small haulers stop here when driving all the way to a distant landfill isn't worth it. The place sees a mix of residential drop-offs and commercial trucks.

Pull in to a gated entrance with a small check-in booth; someone in the booth usually directs drivers where to go. A scale is typically crossed on the way in or out since trucks are loaded and weighed, so be ready for a short stop. The site is mostly concrete and large piles or bays where material gets compacted into transfer trailers; expect heavy equipment and large trucks moving about. Dust can be noticeable in dry weather, and weekends or spring cleanup times often have a line of cars waiting to get in.

Before You Go

  • Drive slowly and watch for big trucks backing up - give them plenty of room and follow any flagger or booth directions.
  • Have the load secured and easy to toss out; loose items can blow around in the dry wind and slow things down.
  • Bring a tarp or cover for dusty loads and wear boots - the ground around the bays can be gritty and uneven.
