800-963-4776Mountain View Landfill (locally called Blandfill) is the big burial site out by California Avenue that handles Salt Lake City’s non-recyclable trash. Neighbors, landscapers, and haulers all use it when trash needs to be dropped off and buried rather than recycled or hauled elsewhere. It sits on a noticeable stretch of road and serves both small residential loads and larger commercial trucks.
Drive up to a single entrance where traffic funnels toward a visible weigh scale - the place charges by weight, so vehicles stop to be weighed. There’s a booth area before the tipping face, and then a large open cell where trucks dump and compactors or dozers work the material; the site is large and dusty, especially in dry weather. Expect to pull forward, get directed where to tip, and drive back over the scale on the way out. Weekends and spring cleanup time tend to be the busiest stretches, with lines forming at the scale.
