Central Valley Landfill in Magna is the big landfill people from Salt Lake City and surrounding areas use when a truckload won’t fit in curbside pickup. Mostly visited by homeowners doing big cleanouts and by haulers with bulky construction or commercial loads. It’s very much a working dirt-and-gravel site, not a tidy drop-off center.
There’s a small entrance booth and a weigh scale where vehicles are measured - tipping fees are charged by weight like most landfills. After the scale, drivers head into a wide dirt area with heavy equipment moving around and high piles of compacted material; the active dumping spot is obvious once past the initial lane. The whole site is large enough for big trailers and roll-offs, but it’s dusty and muddy when wet, so expect grime on tires and fenders. Weekends, especially during spring clean-up, often have lines and slower traffic through the gate.
