West Texas Region Disposal Facility on North FM 2528 near Abernathy is the place folks from Lubbock and the surrounding county drive out to when something won’t fit in the curbside can. It’s used by homeowners, contractors with trailers, and anyone hauling big junk or yard waste from the area.
Pull in and there’s a small entrance booth with a wide lane for trucks and trailers to line up. You’ll usually cross a scale at some point, so plan for a stop on the way in or out since many regional sites charge by weight. The site is an open dirt yard with piles, roll-off containers and heavy equipment moving around; expect dust and uneven ground. Lines get long on weekends and during spring cleanup, so patience is part of the trip.

- Sort and stage materials on the trailer or pickup bed ahead of time so dumping goes faster and there’s less driving around the yard.
