Royal Oaks Landfill is the landfill out on CR 4102 (Heath Lane) just outside Jacksonville, used by local households, small haulers and commercial trucks. It’s the place where loads are buried rather than recycled, so expect a working, no-frills site rather than a tidy drop-off center.
Drive in and plan to stop at an entrance booth and go over a scale - tipping fees are typically charged by weight, so there’s usually a weigh-in and weigh-out. After weighing, follow the signs or attendants to the active dumping pad; large dirt cells and heavy equipment are what you’ll see, not sorting lines. Larger trucks and trailers need room to maneuver, and the pad can get dusty or muddy depending on recent weather. Commercial loads are accepted and are usually billed on a different rate structure than residential drops.
