IESI Buffalo Creek Landfill at 1201 W. Smith Avenue is the large county landfill just outside Iowa Park where loads that can't be dropped at smaller convenience centers end up. Local residents, farmers hauling brush, and commercial haulers all use this place when they need to bury trash rather than recycle or drop items at a transfer station.
There's an entrance booth and a scale you drive over - tipping fees are charged by weight, so expect to be weighed. Pull up to the booth first, then head onto the scale and follow the driving lane toward the working face where trucks tip. The site is big and industrial-looking: compacted cells, heavy equipment moving material, and a lot of gravel and dust in dry weather. Weekends and spring cleanup times can get backed up, so lines are common then.
