Greenwood Farms Landfill

Greenwood Farms Landfill, 12920 FM 2767, Tyler, 75708, Texas

Greenwood Farms Landfill is the big county landfill out on FM 2767 just southeast of Tyler, where local trash is buried in the final disposal cells. Residents, roll-off haulers and commercial trucks all use it, especially those coming from surrounding rural areas. The facility operates under the oversight of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality like other landfills in the state.

The site is large and open, with graded mounds and compacted cells rather than a small transfer building. Expect an entrance booth and a scale-landfills charge tipping fees by weight and often have a residential minimum, so plan to be weighed in and out. Lines can form on weekends and during spring cleanup season, and commercial haulers are common at the site. Because this is a rural area of Texas, trips here can be a fair drive compared with county convenience centers.

Before You Go

  • Go on a weekday morning if possible; weekends and spring cleanup days tend to back up the entrance and scale.
  • Have loads secured and tarped before getting to the gate to avoid spilling and to speed unloading.
  • Allow extra time for weighing and for following larger trucks through the site-commercial vehicles can slow traffic around the working face.
