Brownsville Municipal Landfill

Brownsville Municipal Landfill, 9000 FM 802, Brownsville, 78521, Texas

Brownsville Municipal Landfill is the city landfill out on FM 802 where residents and commercial haulers bring trash that gets buried. Locals, landscapers, and small businesses use it when curbside pickup isn't enough. As with other Texas disposal sites, it's overseen by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Pull up to an entrance booth and then onto a large gravel apron; there's a scale nearby and tipping fees are charged by weight, so expect to be weighed. The site is large - long dirt roads, piles of compacted material and capped cells visible from the main drive. Commercial trucks and big loads are accepted, and larger deliveries are routed a bit differently than quick carloads. Weekends and spring cleanup season often bring lines, so be ready for some waiting.

Before You Go

  • Secure and tarp loose loads - anything light will blow off on the drive out and make a mess.
  • Have paperwork handy if hauling for a business and plan extra time for getting weighed in and out.
  • Bring a vehicle that handles gravel and uneven ground; long trailers need room to turn, so approach slowly and wide.
