White County Landfill

White County Landfill on Gum Springs Mountain Road in Sparta is the county landfill where household and commercial loads get buried and compacted. Residents, pickup haulers and larger trucks all use this site when clearing out junk or finishing a job.

There’s an entrance booth and a scale you’ll pass; landfills typically weigh vehicles so be prepared to stop for weighing on the way in and out. Drive up the gravel road to the tipping area where equipment moves material and covers it - keep an eye out for big trucks and machinery. The site is mostly terraced mounds of compacted trash and cover soil, with dust in dry weather and mud when it rains. Tipping fees are charged (often by weight) and commercial loads are commonly accepted, though commercial deliveries may be treated differently than residential ones.
