Neighbors use it when they want something closer than driving to a distant landfill and when they have a pickup load or a few bags to get rid of.
Drive in off Tellico Port Road and you’ll see an entrance booth and a wide drive-up area for backing trailers or trucks. The site is built for quick turnarounds: pull up to the booth, get directed to the tipping area, unload onto a concrete pad or into a compactor, then leave; most of the activity is noisy and industrial. There are usually recycling containers or drop-off points set off to the side, and the whole place looks like a working yard with large trucks coming and going. Weekends, especially spring cleanup weekends, tend to get a line and a bit of waiting.
