(931) 684-2644Shelbyville Landfill Transfer is the small transfer station off Blue Ribbon Parkway that locals use when they don't want to drive all the way to the county landfill. Neighbors, small contractors and folks doing big cleanups swing by here to drop off household and bulky stuff before it gets hauled out to the distant dump. It feels more like a working lot than a neat recycling center - bring realistic expectations.
Pull up to a gate and a little booth where vehicles queue; there’s usually a scale or weigh station area nearby and traffic moves in a short loop for unloading and pulling back out. The site is open concrete and compacting equipment can be heard - trucks come and go with big loads, so expect noise and diesel smells at times. If it’s a weekend or during spring cleanup season, lines lengthen and there’s a bit of a wait; midweek visits are generally calmer. Vehicles unload into a large pit or hopper area and then head back out the same way they came in.
