(901) 872-7258Republic Services North Shelby Landfill in Millington is the big place where trash ends up being buried - used by local residents and commercial haulers alike. It’s the final stop for loads that can’t be handled at smaller transfer stations or county convenience centers. Expect a large, working landfill environment rather than a tidy drop-off center.
There’s a weigh scale and an entrance booth; vehicles are typically directed to the scale to be weighed and then sent in to tip. Large trucks and roll-offs are common, and the tipping face and compacted mounds of soil and cover material are hard to miss. Because tipping fees are weight-based, commercial loads are handled differently from residential ones and you’ll likely stop at the scale again before leaving. The site can be dusty and has the usual landfill sights and smells, and lines can form during busy weekend or seasonal cleanup times.
