North Shelby Landfill on Old Millington Road is the big burial site folks in Millington and local contractors use when material can't be recycled. As a working landfill it handles both small residential pickups and commercial loads; tipping fees are assessed by weight at the scale. Expect to see trucks of all sizes dropping off throughout the day.
There’s a small entrance booth and a weigh scale - landfills like this charge by weight, so be prepared to stop at the scale and again after dumping for the outbound weigh. Pull up to the booth to check in, then follow the lane to the active tipping area where trucks and pickups unload; the roads inside are mostly dirt and can be dusty. The site looks large with mounded fill and heavy equipment moving around, so give big vehicles plenty of room.
