Dekalb County Landfill on Alexandria Highway is the county landfill where household and commercial trash ends up being buried. Locals and haulers bring full loads here, and it’s the kind of place trucks frequent more than a pickup with a few bags.
There’s a weigh scale at the entrance, so expect to stop and be weighed - tipping fees are set by the county and typically charged by weight. Pull up to the intake booth first to get directed, then drive out onto the working face where loads are dumped. Big roll-off trucks and dump trucks are common; the site looks industrial with large dirt cells, compacted mounds, and a gravel yard. Weekends and spring cleanup days tend to have lines, so there can be a bit of waiting.
