Cocke County Landfill on Old Asheville Highway is the county dump people use when something’s too big for regular pickup. Locals, landscapers and hauling trucks all turn up here; it’s the obvious stop for bulky stuff in Newport.
There’s an entrance booth and a scale, so plan on stopping to be weighed - most county landfills handle tipping fees by weight or by load, and commercial haulers usually follow a different fee schedule. The driveway is gravel and the site looks like any working landfill: dirt roads, piles of cover soil and heavy equipment moving around. Pull up to the booth, get directed (or waved) where to dump, then drive back across the scale on the way out to settle charges.
