Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill (SFRSL) is the regional landfill just outside Hartford at 26750 464th Avenue. Locals and hauling companies use it to drop off household garbage, construction debris, and larger commercial loads. It’s the final place trash gets buried, and it’s big enough to handle heavy truck traffic.
Drive up to an entrance booth and then over a scale - tipping fees are charged by weight, so expect to weigh in and then again on the way out. The site is open and industrial: dirt roads, piles and cells, and the kind of wide working area where trucks back up to unload. Commercial loads are accepted, and there’s usually a short staging area for trucks before dumping. Lines build up on weekends and during spring cleanup, so plan your timing if possible.
