Williamsburg County Landfill

564 Old Gapway Rd, Salters, SC 29590

(843) 387-5133

Williamsburg County Landfill is the county landfill out on Old Gapway Road in Salters, used by residents hauling household trash and by commercial haulers needing a final disposal site. It’s the place where loads get weighed and buried rather than sorted or recycled. Local drivers and small contractors are the ones who show up most often.

There’s an entrance booth and a scale to deal with - expect to stop, be weighed, and stop again when you leave because tipping fees are charged by weight. The site is large and open with heavy equipment moving around; bring patience when pulling up to the booth or lining up in the lanes. Commercial loads are accepted and are typically billed at commercial rates, so trucks and trailers are common. After the scale you’ll be directed where to dump and then back to the scale to finish the transaction.

Before You Go

  • Cover and secure loose materials before driving in; windblown trash makes cleanup slower and can slow traffic through the site.
  • Have materials staged so they’re easy to toss - walking around a trailer or moving items by hand takes extra time with heavy equipment working nearby.
  • Avoid weekends and the first weekend after holidays if possible; lines and wait times get noticeably longer during spring cleanup and busy weekend mornings.
