Greer Transfer Station

590 Gilliam Rd, Greer, SC 29651

(864) 895-4774

Greer Transfer Station is the local transfer station on Gilliam Road where household and small-scale loads get compacted and sent off to a landfill elsewhere. Neighbors bring curbside overflow, construction scraps, and yard cleanups here because it’s closer than driving out to a distant landfill. It’s the kind of place people visit when a pickup bed or trailer is full and needs a quick drop-off.

The entrance has a small booth and a gated drive; pull up to speak or wait your turn before going to the drop-off area. The site is industrial - concrete bays, large compactors and trucks coming and going - so expect some noise and diesel smell. Vehicles are usually directed to specific bays or ramps where material is dumped into a hopper and compacted into trailers. Lines build on weekend mornings and during spring cleanup, so there can be a short wait to get to a bay.

Before You Go

  • Bring sturdy gloves and closed-toe shoes - the ground can be uneven and there’s loose debris around the bays.
  • Tie down loose loads on trailers or truck beds; windy days make loose debris a nuisance for other drivers and the site.
  • Avoid peak times if possible - Saturday mornings and early spring weekends are the busiest, and wait times can double compared with weekday visits.
