(864) 845-8355GFL Piedmont Transfer Station is a local transfer station where neighborhood trash is compacted and then loaded onto larger trucks for transport to a landfill. People from Piedmont and surrounding areas use it when hauling loads that are too big or inconvenient to take to a distant landfill themselves.
Pull up to an entrance booth and be directed where to go; there’s usually a drive-over scale and a second stop on the way out if they charge by weight. The site has large concrete tipping areas and compactors, so expect trucks and heavy equipment moving around. Recycling bins, if present, tend to sit off to one side past the booth, and lines form on weekends and during spring cleanup. Vehicles unload onto high bays or open pits depending on the load, so plan for some walking and stepping up and down from a truck bed.
