Darlington County Recycling Center in Hartsville is the county recycling site for people wanting to keep things out of the landfill. Neighbors, yard cleanup crews, and anyone with a load of recyclables stop here to drop off common items like cardboard, mixed paper, plastics, glass and metal, and the site may also run special collection events for electronics or tires.
The facility looks like a typical county center: an entrance booth and paved lanes that lead up to large concrete or metal recycling containers. Pull up, get pointed to the right line, and park near the appropriate bin for the material being dropped off. Signage and lane markings help show where to unload, while larger commercial trucks use the farther bays and ramps. Weekends and spring cleanup times are noticeably busier, so traffic and wait times can build up then.
