(866) 909-4458Laurel Highlands Landfill is the large Waste Management landfill out on Laurel Ridge Road in Johnstown, used by both residents clearing out garages and commercial haulers dropping loads. The site is what it sounds like - a big burial landfill rather than a transfer station, so most trucks are heading in to dump and leave rather than shuttle material elsewhere.
Drive up to a security/attendant booth and you'll then cross a scale - tipping fees are typically charged by weight, so there’s usually a scale stop on the way in and again on the way out. The site is expansive with visible capped cells and working faces; commercial rigs pull into wider tipping zones while smaller trucks follow marked lanes. Expect to back up to a tipping area or a working face for unloading and then return to the scale to settle the weight-based charge.
