Construction Debris: What You Can (and Can't) Take to the Dump
Renovating your home? Drywall, lumber, concrete, and roofing materials have different disposal rules than regular trash. Here's what to know.
Read more →Pioneer Crossing Landfill is the big burial site out off Redlane Road that handles trucked loads from around Birdsboro and the surrounding parts of Berks County. Locals and small haulers use it when trash can't go to a transfer station or curb pickup anymore. The place is the kind of facility where loads are weighed and buried rather than sorted or recycled on site.
Drive in and you'll see an entrance booth and a weigh scale-most vehicles stop at the booth first, then get weighed on the scale. The site itself is wide open with dirt access roads and visible landfill cells stacked in the distance; plan for some dust if it's dry. Larger trucks pull up to the tipping area and smaller trailers follow the same flow; expect to stop twice if the scale is active, once in and once out. Tipping fees are charged by weight at landfills like this, and commercial trucks are commonly handled alongside residential haulers.
