Northwest Sanitary Landfill

Northwest Sanitary Landfill is the municipal-scale burial site on W Sunbury Rd that handles household and commercial loads for the West Sunbury area. Locals and haulers bring trucks and trailers here when there’s nowhere else to take mixed trash that needs to be buried. The site is the final destination for material that must be landfilled rather than recycled or processed.

Drive up to an entrance booth and get directed onto the inbound scale; tipping fees are charged by weight so the scale matter will affect your cost. The tipping area and active cells are open fields with heavy equipment moving dirt and compacting loads, so expect dust and big trucks sharing the access roads. Recycling or drop-off bins, if present, are usually near the main entrance, while commercial dumpers pull through separate lanes for large loads. Plan on stopping at the scale again on the way out since outbound weight is used to calculate the final fee.
