Chestnut Valley Landfill, Inc.

Chestnut Valley Landfill, Inc., 1184 McClellandtown Road, McClellandtown, 15458, Pennsylvania

Chestnut Valley Landfill is the big burial landfill out on McClellandtown Road that handles both local pickup loads and larger commercial trucks. Locals, contractors, and haulers use it when something needs to be dumped for final disposal.

There’s a small entrance booth and a drive-on scale - tipping fees are charged by weight, so most vehicles stop to be weighed. The site is large, with gravel roads, dirt ramps and the usual mounded cells and working faces; expect heavy equipment and big trucks moving around. Lines can build on weekends and during spring cleanup, and commercial loads are common so slower, heavier vehicles will be in the mix.

Before You Go

  • Secure loose loads with a tarp before leaving home to avoid debris on the road and a messy unload.
  • Load things so they can be dumped quickly (know which side opens on trailers or how a pickup will tip) to keep from slowing a queue.
  • Wear sturdy, mud-ready footwear and plan for rough, uneven parking-gravel and wet conditions are typical after rain.
