Transfer Station

Waste Management - Clackamas County Transfer Station

19600 SE Canyon Valley Rd, Sandy, OR 97055

(503) 260-1577

Small-town transfer station out on SE Canyon Valley Road that locals use when the landfill is too far to drive. Mostly residential cars and small trailers show up to drop off household junk and recyclables. It’s the kind of place where people bring stuff from a weekend project or a cleanup of the garage.

Pull up to an entrance booth and stop to let staff know what’s in the load; there’s usually a scale you’ll cross on the way in or out and they charge by weight. The site is open-air with concrete pads and large compacting equipment in the middle - expect to walk or direct a helper to toss items into the right pile. Recycling bins tend to be off to one side past the booth, with separate bays for different material types. Weekends and spring cleanup get noticeably busier, so lines can form and backing up a trailer may take extra time.

Before You Go

  • Bring a tarp or cover for loose debris so it’s easy to unload and doesn’t blow away while waiting in line.
  • Have items separated before getting out of the vehicle - recyclables in one pile, scrap metal in another - to speed up unloading.
  • Use a helper to guide trailer backing; the pits and ramps are tight and people nearby will appreciate not holding up the line.
