Crook County Landfill sits out on SW Houston Lake Road in Prineville and handles both residential drop-offs and commercial hauls. It’s the county landfill where trash gets buried; tipping fees are charged by weight and commercial loads are accepted.
There’s an entrance booth and a scale that control the traffic flow, so expect to stop at the scale on the way in and again on the way out. Pull into the booth lane, check in, then follow signs and the line of trucks toward the dumping area. The site is large and open, with visible piles of material and the working area set back from the entrance. Weekends and spring cleanup season often mean a line at the scale, so allow extra time.
