Heavener Transfer Station

RR 1 Box 1393, Heavener, OK 74937

(918) 653-2575

Heavener Transfer Station sits on RR 1 just outside Heavener and handles household and residential trash that gets compacted and hauled off to a landfill elsewhere. Neighbors from town and the rural routes use it when a long drive to a bigger landfill isn’t worth it. Expect a practical, industrial-looking site rather than anything fancy.

There’s typically a small entrance booth and a drive-up lane where vehicles pull forward to unload into a pit or large container. Some transfer stations have a scale you cross on the way in or out, so be prepared to stop if one is present. Loads are compacted and loaded onto haul trucks rather than being sorted on site, and large roll-off trucks come and go so watch for traffic. The yard is usually gravel or concrete with open areas for unloading, not landscaped or passenger-friendly.

Before You Go

  • Secure and tarp loose loads before heading in; wind and passing trucks can spread lightweight debris quickly.
  • Bring gloves and sturdy shoes, and have help or tools ready for lifting bulky items - the surfaces and drop-offs are rough.
  • Avoid weekend mornings and the first warm weekend of spring if possible; those times tend to be the busiest and lines get long.
