Checotah Transfer Station

Old Hwy 69, Checotah, OK 74426

(918) 473-2286

Checotah Transfer Station sits on Old Hwy 69 in Checotah and is used by locals hauling household trash and yard cleanup loads. It’s a transfer station, meaning loads are compacted here and then trucked out to a landfill elsewhere.

Pull up to an entrance booth and a scale near the driveway; vehicles are usually weighed before unloading. After the scale, follow the lane into the open tipping area where there’s room for trucks and compacting equipment. Large transfer trucks come and go, so give them plenty of space when maneuvering. The setup is simpler than driving all the way to a distant landfill, but expect some dust and noise during busy periods.

Before You Go

  • Cover and secure any loose items with a tarp so debris doesn’t fly off on Old Hwy 69.
  • Leave space behind your vehicle when pulling up to the scale and tipping area so larger trucks can pass.
  • Try to avoid weekend afternoons and peak spring-cleanup days if a shorter line is wanted.
