Wood County Sanitary Landfill

15320 Tontogany Rd, Bowling Green, OH 43402

(419) 352-0180

The Wood County Sanitary Landfill on Tontogany Road is the county landfill that locals use for hauling household clear-outs and commercial loads. Big trucks and pickups both show up here, so expect a large, open site with long access roads and visible landfill mounds in the distance.

There’s an entrance booth and a weigh scale near the driveway - most county landfills charge tipping fees by weight, so expect to stop on the scale on the way in and again on the way out. The driveway is wide but can get muddy after rain, and traffic backs up at busy times like spring cleanup and weekends. Drivers pull up to the unloading area and tip into large cells; look for signs or attendants directing where to go once past the booth.

Before You Go

  • Secure loads with a tarp so debris doesn’t fly off on the road; loose loads get noticed and slow down your visit.
  • Bring tools and gloves for quick unloading - some materials need breaking apart to fit into the hoppers or cells.
  • Plan for delays on weekend mornings and late afternoons; if hauling a commercial load, allow extra time for weighing and paperwork.
