Rumpke Sanitary Landfill on Hughes Road is the large landfill that handles both residential drop-offs and commercial haulers in the Cincinnati area. Expect a working, industrial site rather than anything tidy or quiet. Lots of trucks come and go, so plan for a busy, noisy place.
There's a scale house near the entrance and tipping fees are charged by weight or per load, so most vehicles get weighed on the way in and again when they leave. Pull up to the booth and follow the flow of dump trucks; unloading areas are set back from the entry and marked by traffic lanes and piles of material. The site looks like big, graded dirt cells and covered mounds with heavy equipment moving around, and semi-trucks are common alongside pickups and trailers. Weekends and spring cleanup times usually mean longer lines and more waiting.
