Landfill

Republic Services Lorain County Landfill

43502 Oberlin Elyria Rd, Oberlin, OH 44074

(440) 458-5191

A large private landfill just outside Oberlin used by both contractors and residents hauling bulk trash. It’s the kind of place commercial haulers visit regularly and neighbors drop by when doing major cleanouts or construction debris runs.

There’s a single entrance with a small booth and a scale - trucks usually stop to be weighed on the way in and again on the way out, since tipping fees are based on weight. The site is expansive with dirt roads, cell caps, and visible rows of compacted material; it looks like rolling berms more than a tidy recycling center. Traffic can back up at peak times, so expect a short wait if several trucks are ahead of you. Drivers typically pull up to the booth first, get weighed, then are directed where to tip and return to the scale when finished.

Before You Go

  • Secure loads well so nothing blows out on the drive; loose trash can make cleanup and fines more likely.
  • Bring identification and any vehicle paperwork commonly required for commercial loads - staff will need to identify vehicles and loads before weighing.
  • Avoid weekend afternoons and spring-cleanup weekends if possible, since lines and wait times get noticeably longer then.
