Montgomery County Transfer Station on Encrete Lane is the county transfer station folks in Moraine use when hauling a load that’s too small to drive all the way to a landfill. Neighbors, landscapers and people doing house cleanouts bring stuff here to be compacted and put on a truck to go elsewhere.

Pull in off Encrete Ln and drive up to a small entrance booth where vehicles are checked before proceeding. There’s a scale that most vehicles cross on the way in or out, and the site itself is mostly large concrete bays and a few big compactors or trailers. Expect to park, unload into an assigned bay or container, and then move back to the exit; semi trucks will be coming and going. Lines build up on weekends and during spring cleanup, so there can be a wait if a few residents arrive at once.
