Solid Waste Facility

HURON COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT

180 Milan Ave, Norwalk, OH 44857

(419) 668-3092 ext. 109

Small county-run solid waste site used by Norwalk residents and nearby townships. It handles general household trash and often has recycling and yard waste options available. Drives here looking like a working yard with big containers and a small entrance booth.

Entrance has a booth and a short drive past it to open tipping areas; pull up to the booth lane first and be prepared to move into the drop-off zone. There’s a weigh scale on the approach and a wide gravel lot with dumpsters and drop-off bays; larger trucks and trailers are common on busy days. Recycling receptacles are usually grouped near the right side shortly after the booth, while yard waste and trash areas sit farther back. Weekends and spring cleanup times get backed up, so expect a line and some waiting around other vehicles.

Before You Go

  • Sort recyclables and yard waste before pulling up so unloading is quicker and fewer lane changes are needed.
  • Bring a tarp or straps for loose loads; loose debris can be messy to handle and slows the line.
  • Have the vehicle positioned to back up or pull through depending on whether using a dumpster or a drop-off bay-watch how others are lined up when it’s busy.
